This trip I really wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We went into the city on Friday (she lives in Queens so we have to take the train from her house to the city) and took the ferry out to the Liberty and Ellis Islands. Here are a few pictures.
This is the registration room on Ellis Island where all the immigrants checked in before entering the United States. The living conditions were not great and they often spent several days on this island (although most of the island is man made by back filling.)
New York City looking back from the ferry. It was a little hazy on Friday. It poured down rain all morning and then became 95 degrees very quickly. Welcome to the NE!
We spent Saturday at Breezy Point where Liz's family has a beach house on a private beach. It was a beautiful day and we spend over 6 hours on the beach! I am working on my tan for my 2 week vacation coming up at the end of August. On Sunday we headed north to the restaurant where Liz's finance works as a chef, called Moderne Barn. The food was amazing and apparently we missed seeing Ron Howard by 5 minutes.
Here is a view of NYC from Breezy Point (which is out by Brooklyn).
I think my next trip to the city will be in December to see Christmas in the city. Cant wait!
