Bowling: The New England Way

Last night I went bowling with some friends. This was all very normal until we get to the bowling alley and the pins are very skinny and the bowling balls very very small. Welcome to the discovery of Bowling: The New England Way...Candlepin bowling. According to the fabulous wikipedia this is popular in Canada and New England only. It does figure that New England would have their very own way of bowling that is different than the rest of the US.
It was a lot of fun actually! You get 3 tires to knock down all 10 pins instead of 2. Also, throwing the ball straight really means nothing because the balls are so light that they will only knock down the pin you hit instead of creating a strike. It is all much more complicated on wikipedia then we played. But it was great fun! I like it better the regular bowling. Now if only we could get rid of the ugly shoes....
